SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail safety system, that is designed to verify if an email message is sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain will prevent the counterfeiting of email addresses generated with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this attribute for a domain name makes a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP of the servers that are permitted to send e-mails from mail boxes using the domain. When this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Any time some email message is sent, the first DNS server it uses tests whether it originates from an official server. In the event it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, but if it doesn't come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address and make it appear as if you're sending spam messages. This approach is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Website Hosting

The SPF protection feature is accessible by default with each website hosting package that we offer and you'll be able to use it without any difficulty so that you can protect the e-mail addresses for any domain hosted in your account. The service is handled through the Emails section of our hi-tech, and easy to work with Hepsia Control Panel. All you need to activate the protection is to type the IP address of the email server plus its hostname - mail.server.com, for example. Once the protection is active, only this server will be able to send out email messages from e-mails generated under the domain name that you have picked. Your emails can be taken care of by some other provider, but if we take care of them together with your website, you can also activate an option for messages to be sent only if the domain features our MX records. This selection will provide you with better protection as only our server will be permitted to send email messages from your mailboxes and you will have better control. If you have any kind of questions or if you experience any issues with this particular service, you can contact our tech support team at any time and they will help you right away.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you'll be able to protect your emails by activating the SPF security service for every domain in your account with just a couple of mouse-clicks. You can do this from the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel that comes with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you have no previous practical experience with these things, you will not have any troubles to activate the security. Everything that you will need to do will be to select a domain from a drop-down list and then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. Once the new record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be delivered globally only if they were sent from that particular server. When your e-mail addresses are managed by our company and not by some third-party supplier, you will also be able to use an option for email messages to be sent only if the domain includes our MX records and the latter is the most secure option. Should you have any questions about thisfunction, you can contact our support team 24/7.
